‘til the right one comes

Evan and I met in July of 2021!

Our first date was grabbing drinks at Maggie’s R&R on Magnolia St, and then dinner at Shinjuku (our favorite sushi spot in Fort Worth). A nice old man paid for our dinner because he said we looked like a cute couple. After dinner, I asked Evan to go for a walk before heading home, but she refused to hold my hand! I thought that was the end of our story, but she texted me a week later and here we are now!

On our third date, we went to Tinies & Nickel City on Main Street. Immediately when we walked in the door some hammered guy bought us each a flight of tequila! I think this was really the date when we knew we had something special together… we just sat and talked at Nickel City for hours. A week later I took her to my niece’s 1st birthday party, and just a few weeks after that we were in Mexico (where Evan first told me she loved me after a few tequila shots in the rain).

We had quite a few fun travel experiences in the first year of dating between Mexico, going to ACL, visiting Boston over Thanksgiving, and going skiing.

Soft launch.

Said tequila shots.

We moved into our first apartment together in Ft Worth just before Christmas 2021 and spent our New Year’s holiday inside together with COVID.

We only lived in our apartment for 10 months before buying our first house in Arlington Heights.

During all this time we continued to fall in love, continued to travel, and always imagined our future together. I knew during the first month I met her that I wanted to spend the rest of my life with Evan, but I finally decided to buy a ring last fall.

I picked up the ring in October when our friends Madeline & Jake came to visit, and I carried it with me to and from work every day for 2 months to keep it hidden from Evan.

Sneaky friends!

I proposed at home on December 6th while we were sitting around playing games and listening to our favorite Norah Jones record. I think I blacked out because I hardly remember what I said, and I had to double-check to make sure she said yes, but it was the happiest moment of my life.

We’re so excited to be getting married and excited that we get to share this with all of you.
